Winnipeg River Boat Launch

The Winnipeg River Launch offers access to both the Winnipeg River and Lake of the Woods featuring two separate boat launches with 15 minute maximum loading and unloading in designated zone and 15 minutes maximum use of the launching ramp. The launch location offers parking for your vehicle and trailer and green space with picnic tables.

Keewatin Wharf

The Keewatin Wharf features a public launch with three docks. Dock A and the west side of Dock B can be used as day parking for up to 4 hours while the east side of Dock B and Dock C are leased spots only. Near the wharf, you will find Beatty Park featuring a covered picnic shelter as well as a beautifully landscaped green space perfect for enjoying lunch with your family or friends. Speaking of lunch, right across the road from the wharf and Beatty Park is the Nippers Dockside food stand which serves up some very tasty lunch options!

Magnus Theatre

The Magnus Theater is Northwestern Ontario’s only professional theatre, located in Thunder Bay with a rich history. The theatre is a not-for-profit registered charity recognized by a number of national and provincial organizations and a full member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT). Many say that Magnus Theater does not disappoint!

Cascades Conservation Area

Cascades Conservation Area is the perfect place for a quiet hike in the beautiful poplar and birch forest, no matter your skill level! The highlight for many people is the spectacular rapids along the Current River. The paved main trail is 775 meters long and offers an accessible loop for people with accessibility concerns to discover the Cascades' beautiful forest. You will also find many trails branching off the main trail which range in difficulty and length. The Conservation Area also features a pavilion which is great for enjoying a barbecue or picnic. The pavilion is home to a variety of interpretive displays highlighting the geological, hydrological and botanical features of the area.

Thunder Oak Cheese Farm

Thunder Oak Cheese Farm located in the gorgeous countryside of Slate River Valley has been making and selling cheese to Thunder Bay since 1955 and is the first farm in Ontario to produce Gouda cheese! Their award-winning Thunder Oak Gouda is a natural product made with fresh milk from the Schep’s own cows, there are no preservatives or added colouring. The Schep family warmly invites you to experience the tradition of Dutch cheesemaking.

Centennial Botanical Conservatory

The Centennial Botanical Conservatory is a multi-functional facility. The conservatory is a community gathering space, like a little vacation amidst the city, filled with tropical trees, shrubs and flowers! The benches inside the conservatory give you a chance to sit and enjoy the view! The facility is also a production facility where the beautiful plants and flowers that fill the city-owned flower pots and gardens scattered throughout the city in the summer are grown over the winter and spring. Accessible to all and a great place to visit year-round, the Conservatory was opened in 1967 by the Fort William Parks Board as a Centennial project, and it is a legacy to the citizens of Thunder Bay.

Northern Ontario Sport Fishing Centre

Located on the shore of the beautiful Lake of the Woods you will find the Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre (NOSFC) featuring antique fishing equipment, local art, a freshwater aquarium, tourist information brochures and much more! The government dock is just down from the Sport Fishing Center, offering docking for those wishing to stop by and explore by boat. Here you will also find a nice picnic area located between the center and the docks perfect for enjoying a coffee or a picnic.
