Fishing Eagle Lake, Ontario

Eagle Lake can be viewed as a number of smaller lakes interconnected by narrows and bays with over 490 islands. Its 70-mile length encompasses the shallow, stained waters of the south-eastern portion of the lake (Niven and Osbourne Bays), the mid-depth and clear central portion (Big Eagle, Portage and Vermilion Bays), and the deep, gin-clear West Arm. With the exception of lake trout which inhabit the West Arm, as well as several portage lakes, the remaining fish species (walleye, northern pike, muskie, smallmouth bass and whitefish) can be found from one end of Eagle to the other. The islands provide a huge variety of reefs, sandbars and knolls to fish.

Eagle Lake Accommodations and Campgrounds

Just the like the variety of bodies of water on Eagle Lake, there are a variety of accommodations as well. Most of the lodges are drive-to lodges and are easily accessible. There are also a few boat-to lodges that are in the center of Eagle and in Osbourne Bay, the southeast end of the lake. The drive-to lodges are a mixture of housekeeping cabins as well as American Plan lodges. Birch Dale Lodge offers both cabin rentals and has a campground on Eagle Lake. There is one outpost cabin on the west arm of Eagle Lake run by Stanley's Resort.
