Drivable Remoteness

Remote doesn't have to mean inaccessible. At Canada North Lodge you can drive right into a quiet atmosphere. When you arrive at Little Bear Lake, you can drop your bags and head straight for the dock. Set up a bobber for your kids line, or try out your new rod and lures as soon as you arrive.

Head out on the water at sunrise to discover pristine waters that stretch for over 50 miles. Little Bear Lake is part of the Women River chain of lakes. A chain that consists of eight connected lakes. Washagomis, Swain, Big Woman, Little Woman, Big Bear, Middle, Loon and Little Bear Lake where Canada North Lodge is located.

Need more Adventure?

Canada North Lodge has ten portage lakes you can include in your stay to feed the adventurer inside of you. Portage lakes are split and scheduled daily to assure each guest gets their privacy. So, the lake it yours all day.

Each portage lake can be found on Canada North Lodge's website, where you can search fish species and the group sizes that can be accomodated. If you have up to 6 guests, we recommend Narrow Lake. You can also split your party to ensure you can all take part in a portage lake, because one portage trip per person is assured.

Did you have fun and want to do it again? Good! After the day's schedules complete, you can book another portage lake to yourself during your stay!

Be sure to check out Canada North Lodge's website to read all of the species, slot sizes and group sizes available for each lake.

Lodge dining at it's finest!

Have Large Groups?

Canada North Lodge accomodates larger groups, corporate retreats and even corporate meetings. Not to mention large family gatherings. Do you require a space that can fit your entire large family, or somewhere you need to mix work with play by holding business meetings, but still letting your employees get out to enjoy themselves?

Your options are limitless, you can hold team building exercises hiking into portage lakes, or even challenge your group to a mini fish derby before your delicious shore lunch. Largest fish doesn't have to carry anything on the portage home!

Here's a testimonial straight from Canada North Lodge's website about bringing in large groups.

"Our bank has conducted outings at Canada North Lodge for several years. Part of our itinerary is to conduct business meetings during our stay. We have found the accommodations to be excellent for both the business and pleasure portions of our trips. Many of our guests have been amazed at the quality of the lodge in its wilderness location. The staff including Mike and Julie, guides, cooks and housekeeping have always gone out of their way to ensure an enjoyable stay. I would recommend Canada North Lodge to any business planning a group outing."

Let them start their personal bests early!

It's Never too Soon

Watching a kid reel in their first fish is magic of it's own. You know that moment will be implanted in their memories for years to come.

Do you want to know what is better than their first fish? Their biggest, and the more the catch, the more they'll remember such an incredible trip. You should be warned though, this will spoil them in terms of fishing. Because they won't experience fishing like this until they return. But don't listen to me, take what Ross had to say below.

"Another trip I went their with my family of 5. My boys were 3, 7, and 11. They all had a great time. My wife and I fished in our boat with my 3 year old. While Bob, one of the guides, catered to every need of my 7 and 11 year old. Our whole family voted that trip the best vacation ever. We can't wait to do it again. The memories that we have to share from that trip bring us so much joy. It was absolutely AWESOME!... They all talk of going back. We have a change jar now, that all change left on the counter is collected and goes to that fund. The Canada Fund. P.S. They also learned that fishing in Canada is nothing like fishing in Illinois." -Ross E. Cornett

If you want your kid to love fishing, you should probably consider a trip up north.
