McKenzie Island Trails

McKenzie Island ski trails are maintained by the Red Lake District Cross-Country Ski Club. As the weather gets colder and the water freezes the skiers begin in Cochenour and ski across the Ice Road to McKenzie Island where there are 35km in groomed ski trails, the trails are groomed for skate skiing and diagonal or classic. You will be skiing in a wilderness setting where there is much wildlife, so you may want to bring your camera with you! You may also notice the old mine sites on the island as you enjoy the crisp clean air of Northwestern Ontario. Loops: Yellow 4.4 (Moderate terrain) Orange 4.3 (Moderate terrain) Red 6.5 (Easy terrain) Greean 8.2 Blue 11.8 (Both grean and blue loops have difficult terrian with steep hills and turns) *Weekend passes available*

McIrvine Park

Mcirvine Park is an excpetional greenspace perfect for spending some time in the sun with your favourite people. The park offers a swing set, sand playground, picnic benches and additional green space for recreational activities.

Max the Moose

Max the Moose has been proudly standing at the Dryden Tourist Information Centre since July 19, 1962. Max is 18' (5.6 m)in height and weighs 2 tons. Though not the biggest moose in Canada, he is the oldest! Max stands in honour of his ancestors, cousins, and friends of the wilderness. This burly beast, with its head raised, captures the spirit of Sunset Country and Max would love to get his photo taken with you!

Mather-Walls House

Mather-Walls Historical House is a conservative wooden version of the exuberant Queen Anne style, designed by Winnipeg architect George Browne. It has a picturesque roofline, verandas, fine interior wood trim and hardware, and windows in a variety of shapes and forms decorated with panes of coloured glass and is one of three nearly identical homes in Keewatin commissioned by the Mathers in 1889. In 1906, the house was purchased by John Walls. Today, it is home to the Lake of the Woods Historical Society and features furnishings from the era of the Walls family, as well as an interpretive display highlighting the Mather family's significant impact on the area's development. The Society holds its meetings and hosts community events on the premises, and in the summer months conducts public tours.

Marina Park

Marina Park offers something for the whole family. Enjoy a spectacular view of Lake Superior, walkways, Spirit Gardens, Mariner's Monument, caboose, scenic lookouts, picnic areas, playground for the kids, shops, and restaurant in the old C.N station. More great highlights of the park are the skating rink (winter), Splash pad (summer) and the 2,000 sq. metre (22,000 sq. ft.) Lone Pine Rink

The Lone Pine Rink is an outdoor skating rink run by volunteers. Come on out during the winter months for some hockey, figure skating or just for a fun skate. The rink is located off Larson Street.

Little Falls Recreation Centre

Little Falls Recreation Centre is located on Little Falls Road, south off of Highway 622. It has a fabulous view of the golf course, and many golfers can be found in the 19th Hole Bar & Grill after a round of golf. It is home of the the Little Falls Curling Rink which has 6 sheets. The Rec Centre also has kitchen and bar services as well as room and hall rentals. It can be booked for weddings, Christmas parties, family dinners or a barbeque with the gang after a round of golf. Whatever your occasion may be call the centre at 807-597-6638 or the Community Services department to reserve.
