With the re-introduction of the Spring bear hunt to Ontario, you now have two seasons to go after black bears!
The Province has one of the largest concentrations of black bears in North America with an estimated population that approaches100,000 animals. In the springtime, there is less vegetation and the bears are out from their winter dens looking for food. In the fall, the bears are busy fattening up for winter so they often hit the baits looking for an easy meal.
You can hunt bears using a bow, rifle or primitive weapon such as black powder. Your chances of success are quite high with many outfitters boasting close to 100% success rates. Colour phases include black, blonde, brown and cinnamon.
