Pickle Lake is located at the end of Highway 599. Going north from Ignace, you'll pass such lakes as Lake St. Joseph (famous for its walleye fishing) and Osnaburgh Lake. Lake St. Joseph, has many inflowing streams and rivers, lots of islands, a ragged shoreline, and a structurally complex bottom. This 150,000-acre fishery has a uniquely controlled access brought about by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the tourist camps on Lake St. Joe. The result has been a spectacular fishery for walleye. The lake also has great northern pike fishing. There are a few lodges and outposts on Lake St. Joe.

Pickle Lake Outpost Camps

Pickle Lake, being "at the end of the road" also has outfitters that will fly you into remote outpost cabins to fish or hunt moose or bear. You can fly into lakes such as Assin Lake, Forester, Makoop, Markop, Newagank, North Caribou, Pipestone River, Skinner, and Wastyanipi Lakes. At the outpost camps, you can fish mainly for trophy walleye, northern pike, and brook trout. Moose and black bear hunts are also available.

Campgrounds in Pickle Lake

Municipal Campgrounds:
The Township has been successful in operating campsites at Badesdawa Lake (Mud Lake), Menako Lake, Mawley Lake and the Pipestone River. All these sites are primitive and offer outdoor toilets. Most of them have an upgraded boat launch. A small RV Park has also been set up along the beach of Pickle Lake. This Park has electrical hookups and a sewage disposal area.

There are camping facilities located at Oz Lake Lodge. This facility is located on the headwaters of the Albany River, on beautiful Osnaburgh Lake. It sits only 65 km north of Savant Lake or 40 km south of Pickle Lake, on Highway 599. Camping facilities include electricity, shower facilities, and a dumping station.
