No crowds. No pressure. Just fishing the way it should be.

For anglers across the Midwest, finding truly untouched water isn’t easy anymore. But just north of the border, there are still places where you can fish all day without seeing another boat, and where the stories don’t exaggerate the experience.

Your Private Lake is Less Than 30 Minutes Away

One of the biggest surprises? How easy it is to get there.

In under 30 minutes, a floatplane can take you from Kenora’s harbourfront to one of Walsten Outposts' nine remote outpost lakes; places where the only people you’ll see are the ones you came with.

Walsten Outposts has fly-in outposts on Roger, Snowshoe, Chase, Joe’s, Trapline, Trout, Nance, Scenic and Lount Lakes and one drive-to outpost on Separation Lake.

Remote Doesn’t Mean Roughing It

Fly-in trips used to mean giving up comfort, but that’s changed.

Since taking over Walsten Outposts in 2022, the new owners have invested heavily in upgrades across their locations.

Roger Lake now features a flushing toilet, brand-new kitchen, and updated flooring. Snowshoe Lake has also been upgraded with a flushing toilet and new flooring. At Chase Lake, two brand-new cabins are opening in 2026, with another new build planned for Scenic Lake in 2027.

You still get the remoteness, but with a level of comfort that makes the experience even better.

Fishing That Lives Up to the Hype

Walsten’s lakes are loaded with walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and lake trout, and more importantly, they’re lightly pressured, something that’s getting harder to find.

That means better fishing, more action, and real chances at trophy fish.

The rocky points, sandy flats, and structure are perfect for walleye fishing. Their bass lakes, Roger, Trout, Snowshoe, and Separation, are made for them: rocky shorelines, clear water, and endless structure. You’ll find both numbers and size here, with plenty of jumpers that will go airborne on nearly every hookset. Northerns average 5 to 15 pounds, but there are monsters pushing 25 to 30 pounds and stretching 40 to 50 inches! You’ll find top-notch lake trout action on Trout Lake and Trapline’s Portage (Wilson Lake).
