Laura Howe Marsh

The Laura Howe Marsh is a wetland with abundant plants and wildlife. There are viewing platforms throughout the Marsh, and you may enjoy a short trail (0.4 km) or a longer one (2km). During the winter months near the Wabigoon Lake, there is tobogganing and a skating rink.

Garrow Park and Beach

Garrow Park is found on Rabbit Lake at the end of Birchwood Crescent, just minutes from downtown. There is a beautiful beach with docks, a playground, washrooms, change rooms, a picnic area, outdoor exercise stations and pickleball courts. The Rabbit Lake Trail, a paved accessible trail, can be found along the south shore of the lake. The Kenora Rowing Club is also based here and holds many regattas. Mosswood Adventures and Rentals offers rentals for water bikes, single/tandem/fishing kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, pedal boats, and more! The park has barrier-free access with paved nature trails and an accessible water entry by Mobi Mat.

Red Lake Community Centre

The Red Lake Community Centre serves as the central hub for recreation in Red Lake. Inside the Centre, you will find a weight room, a cardio room, squash courts, and the Best Start Hub, along with various fitness programs. During the summer, there is an outdoor basketball court, a baseball field, and a skateboard park available for use. In the winter, an outdoor skating rink is open for skating. Additionally, Centennial Park features paved pathways, perfect for a pleasant walk.

Rotary Way Trail

The trailhead is located at the end of Narin Avenue and connects to the Rabbit Lake Trail System. This trail provides a spectacular viewpoint overlooking Rabbit Lake. Along the route, there are several rest areas, solar lighting, and railings for your convenience. The trail is 385 meters long, features easy terrain, and is open year-round. Additionally, the Rotary Way section of the Rabbit Lake Trail System is wheelchair accessible.

Boreal Trail

This majestic hike begins with a gentle path, perfect for warming up, but soon transitions into a series of exhilarating ups and downs that cater to the adventurous spirit. As you journey along the trail, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, from lush forests to sparkling lakes. Along the way, you'll find serene sitting areas, ideal for taking a break and soaking in the beauty of nature. The short loop offers a more accessible option, featuring moderate hills that provide a good workout without being overly strenuous. This loop is perfect for families or those looking for a more leisurely hike. Conversely, the long loop presents a greater challenge, with its diverse terrain, steep inclines, and longer distance demanding more endurance and skill from hikers. However, there's no need to be intimidated by its rating; the rewards of stunning panoramas and the sense of accomplishment are truly worth the effort. This remarkable trail is conveniently located south of Nestor Falls, right by the information center, making it easy to plan your outing and gather any necessary information. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a casual nature enthusiast, this hike promises an unforgettable experience filled with the beauty and tranquility of the great outdoors.

Chippewa Park

Chippewa Park spans 270 acres (110 hectares) and is beautifully nestled along the shores of Lake Superior. This picturesque park is the perfect destination for a delightful day with family. Visitors can relax on the sandy beach, enjoy the charm of a historic carousel, and thrill at the various amusement rides. A beautifully restored pavilion from the 1930s adds a touch of nostalgia, while numerous picnic areas invite families to gather and savor a meal amidst nature. The park also boasts an animal park, RV camping facilities, scenic campsites, and well-maintained walking trails that beckon outdoor enthusiasts to explore its natural beauty.

Dryden Signature Trail

The Dryden Signature Trail is located on the Wabigoon River in Johnston Park. It follows a gravel pathway with some small, paved sections. Overall, the hike is easy terrain and includes a suspension bridge and some sections with stairs. This trail is ideal for exploring and sightseeing in the community; this trail also connects to other parks and rest areas equipped with sightseeing benches, washrooms and grass loans. The Dryden Signature Trail connects with other community trails, and the combined trails provide access to all four corners of the city.

8th Street Walking and Ski Trail

Take a relaxing stroll, a hike, snowshoe or cross-country skiing in some of Fort France’s more natural beauty. These trails cut through clearings and wooded areas in north Fort Frances, offering some very scenic views. Make sure to watch out for the woodcarvings and other handmade pieces donated by local artisans to the trails.
