With a population of 115,000, Thunder Bay is by far the largest city in Northwestern Ontario. With it's International Airport, you can fly into Toronto then to Thunder Bay from there, getting you from home to fishing on the water in the same day - no matter where you live in the USA. There is a multitude of attractions and things to do in the city. You can try out the fantastic culinary scene at dozens of restaurants offering dishes from across the world. You can also try your hand with lady luck at the Thunder Bay Casino. The newly developed waterfront is an attraction unto itself and a definite "must-see" if you visit the city. Thunder Bay also has many interesting places to go shopping and just outside of the City are working amethyst mines where you can dig for your own gemstones.
Also outside the city, are some of the best scenic views of Lake Superior - climb the Sleeping Giant or go on a hike or bicycle ride on many area trails. Thunder Bay is a major hub along the Lake Superior Circle Tour and many motorcycle riders and families visit the City during their round trip of the big lake. Add in the fact Thunder Bay has a great night scene and entertainment facilities makes it that much more worth visiting. In winter go ice climbing or cross-country skiing - whatever you decide to do, you'll have a blast!
