Atikokan Fishing Trips

There are many drive-to resorts and lodges on the surrounding Canadian lakes including the Seine River Chain, Eva, Calm, Niobe, Crystal, Clearwater West, Nym, and Perch Lakes. Many of the lodges also have boats on several of the surrounding lakes. You can also try a fly-in fishing trip to a remote outpost cabin. Fly into lakes such as Gamble, Dimple, Irene, Namaygoos, McGinnis, Bemar, Mosher, and Mountairy Lake. Fish for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, lake trout, crappie, and perch.

Atikokan Canoe Trips

Atikokan is a starting point for those canoeing famous Quetico Provincial Wilderness Park, which is just south of the community. Whether you are looking for full canoe outfitting or just a partial package, you're sure to find a canoe outfitter in Atikokan. Paddle one of the canoe routes in Quetico or take a canoe trip on area lakes such as White Otter Lake where you'll find the famous White Otter Castle. If you're looking for something less rustic than a tent, some outfitters even have a cabin that you paddle to.

Why not make your trip to Atikokan a learning experience! You can visit the Walleye Fish Hatchery by appointment in the Spring; explore the Centennial Museum & Historical Park, or take a walking tour of the mining displays around town. View ancient native rock art at the Pictograph Gallery or better yet, set out on your own to view rock art along the many lakeshores near town. Visit scenic Little Falls or play a round of golf next door at the Little Falls Golf Course. The Charleson Recreation Area is a superb wilderness area that is utilized by hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, skiers, snowmobilers and more.

The Visitor Information Centre is located at the junction of Highway 11 and Highway 11B. It is stocked full of travel information on Atikokan and many surrounding areas. They can be reached at 807-597-4492.

Winter hours: Closed for the winter.

Hiking Trails in Atikokan 
Walking trails are located along the river throughout the community.

Public Beaches: 
French Lake is located on the northern edge of Quetico Provincial Park. A public beach located on Crystal Lake located adjacent to Crystal Beach Resort.

Picnic Areas and Parks Within Atikokan 
Bunnel Park has a quaint picnic pavilion where people can have family gatherings.

Winter Activities: 
There are many winter activities to enjoy in Atikokan - cross country skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, tobogganing, and snowshoeing.
